We have been together for 5 months. Things are going very well. I want Valentines day to be special, but money is somewhat of an factor. Also since this is the first Valentines I am not sure how far to go. I think a weekend getaway is too much, but is a romantic dinner too little?

Dude you haven’t been together for a long time. I’d suggest spending the day with her. Go to the movies, have dinner, you know normal date stuff. But the key is to spend the day with her, show her that you care. Most importantly don’t expect sex, treat her good and if she gives it rgeat, but don’t expect it.
Roses and candy. Be classic. Take her out to eat, and ask what else she might want to do afterward. Be real sweet to her all day and do what ever she wants to do. Girls value Valentines day A LOT. Make her feel special. Remember its not really about the money, its about the gesture.
It is traditional to give roses on Valentines Day. If money is a factor, as you say, you can give a single long stem rose for a more simple message. Here’s something I heard recently that sounds like a unique ide. Rose colors all have different meanings. So you can give her a single rose of the color that best represents how you fell about that person. Red says I love you. Purple is for love at first site. Pink is for thanks or appreciation. Yelllow is for friendship. Orange is for passion.
Here’s something else, I just recently saw that CBS News did a survey of several online Florist companies to determine who was the best to order from. The company they selected as giving the best value and sent roses that very closely resembled the picture was FromYouFlowers.com. Thought I would mention this because it takes a bit of the risk out of trying to decide which company to order from.
