I taught myself how to read when I was four years old; at least, that’s what my parents say. I wasn’t in Preschool or anything, and no one was giving me lessons on it. Then, one day, I say to them, “Want me to read to you?” They’re all, ‘how sweet, but he can’t read!’ Then I totally do! Is that quite rare, or in fact somewhat common?
My friend just pointed out to me that he needs to consolidate his student loans to make repayment easier and more affordable. He found the best student loan consolidation available so that he could manage his loan repayment process better!

thats pretty spec, i shall c wot google has 2 say…
very little, but this is my own opinion, yes perhaps children can teach themselves to read by looking at picture books and recognising what the words mean although i cant c how u wud hav bn able to teach urself to read aloud.
Thats quite interesting, although you probably picked it up from somewhere even if it wasn’t taught to you directly. Otherwise how would you know what makes what sound. Its not how most kids do it either, so its kinda rare.
Well, that depends. What are you “reading.” My daughter could read the sign for McDonald’s and could find the words “cheeseburger” on a menu when she was about 2 or 3. She is smart, but most parents think their kids are smart.
If, at 4 years old, you were reading complex sentences and multiple paragraphs and understood what you were reading, I would say that was amazing. I am sure your parents were pleased and happy for you. Even if someone did teach you, it would still be something to see.
How did you know what all the ’shapes’ (letters) sounded like?
Someone would have to have told you.
