How Can I Hang An Lcd Tv On A Wall Where There Is No Stud Directly Behind It?

I’ve purchased a 27 inch LCD tv for my bedroom, and in order for it to be centered at the foot of the bed, I need to hang it between two studs. I realize I have to use the studs for the mounts, but is there a type of mount I can buy that will allow me to offset the tv? Thanks!

Whatever you do don’t use the anchor screws method mentioned in the other answer. The 30-40 lbs television will eventually come crashing down. I would hate for fluffy or a child to get smashed by it.
Almost all mounts allow you to offset the TV the issue with that is that you can sometimes see the mount. I would recommend getting an articulating wall mount. Mount the TV on the stud and when you want to watch Television pull it from the wall to angle it better for you. You can also center it better as it will allow you more range and motion to do so.
If you don’t feel confortable about it you can always hirer a pro. :-)

consider using self anchoring screws…if they work you do not need a stud for a base

Find where there are studs and put a board across them, they should be fairly close together. You can even stain the board or paint it, it should be covered by your tv anyways. Then attatch the tv mount to that board.
or you could get a ceiling mount.
