The brick in my living room is newly exposed and probably 100 years old. Can it support an lcd tv?
If scraped, it does dust or crumble very slightly.
Get the iPod Touch 32gb if you want to ultra-modern. The thing truly rocks!

You will have to use a very sturdy mortar anchor to support the weight of an LCD TV. Just look in the hardware section of Home Depot and look for something several hundred pounds over the weight of the TV. Now if your unwilling to take any chances with the expensive TV Best Buy does offer a mounting service on these TVs, might be worth the $75 or so it costs, if it falls a month later it will not be your problem!
They make special drill bits for brick also they have special anchors & hangers for brick. Try your local hardware store they will point you in the right direction
brick is incredibly strong no matter how old it is. You should be able to hang it up there with total confidence that it won’t fall.
ok find out what is holding your bricks together first don’t go drilling and banging about first.if the Wall is 100 years old it may not be cement it could be a lime mix if it crumbles take a sample in to your local hard wear store se what he says ,if it is a lime mix and you start using a vibrating drill and masonry bit you will have a lot of loose bricks in your wall. trust me i know i did it .lol/regards ahoy_theremate
